Summer Wars: comedy or parody for a comedy?

Summer Wars is one of the few comedies on the Anime market. The storyline is based on a banal plot with traditional start. Nevertheless, the non-traditional culmination makes the cartoon attracting for everyone who appreciates the samurai codex, or wishes to find a predestination in their life.

In fact, the story is based on the principles of defending the honor, and finding the actual importance of the life. Hence, Kenji Koiso, a math genius, and moderator in some similar to online game, however with real characters and sceneries, receives an offer from Natsuki – the most popular girl in the school, to escort her to Nagano Prefecture, for her great-grandmother's 90th birthday. This is a “summer job” for him, hence Kenji agrees. Nevertheless, when he is introduced as Natsuki’s fiancé, the story begins.

Actually, there is no necessity to describe the plot in details, as everything ends with happy end, and Kenji has an opportunity to sort out his life, and find the difference between the real and the virtual life. Thousands of non plagiarized term paper have been already written on the matters of self-search, and millions of custom written papers, describing the pros of real life vs. virtual one. The score that may be assigned for this story is close to middle, as the new frame for the well-known traditional shape does not make honor to Mamoru Hosoda – the director of this cartoon, nevertheless, it was awarded with Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year.
