There are loads of great - and even more ropey 'podsafe' artists out there.
Let's support our UK artists. Here are some fabulous UK artists I love - apologies if I've missed anyone here. Can anyone else chime in - and provide links please?
Hollow Horse - cracking band from Glasgow fronted by Kenny Little. Its a pleasure to play them - look out for 'Forget the girl' - exceptional. A really great production on every track with really intelligent lyrics and phrasing. All the tracks sound like real classics.
Paul Rose. One of the very best guitar players on the scene - a top session guitarist mate of mine had heard of him and rated him highly. Recently collaborated with Hollow Horse (and I got the credit for that from Ken listening to the podcast!). Critically aclaimed and one of the best session players there is on the scene. Won Rory Gallagher's old guitar with his talent. Listen out too for the melodic and jazz stuff. Mindblowing.
3 blind mice. Incredible London band - session standard +++++ everything they do is original, really catchy and difficult to pigeon hole into a genre. Haven't heard anything but great stuff from them. I'm desperate to see them live.
Slashed Seat Affair - I can't understand why SSA haven't broken into mainstream music, it's perhaps only a matter of time. Listen out for Darren's fantastic guitar riffs. Great hardworking band.
- Please play these folks, get them heard and direct traffic to them.
Anyone who isn't guitar rock or acoustic folk/singer songwriter, AOR/radio friendly rock?
3 Blind Mice sound like Crowded House* crossed with *shudder* Lightning Seeds but would like to be Flaming Lips or Half Man Half Biscuit but sound far too novelty version of ELO/Genesis*, if you needed a definition, Paul..."comedy prog"?
* double shudder.
SSA at least are emo/goth rock...still guitar based though...
Do Young Knives have any podsafe tracks? They'll be big this year, saw them live last year and the songs have come a LONG way. As will Glasvegas (although they've been around for ages), and a band called Mgmt. that I've just heard their first big single of.
